Week 4

Throughout the senior project application process, I appreciated the freedom we were given to explore any interest. Although I did not choose the passion project option, I've been wanting to learn more about the operations of the Reserve for a long time and was thrilled to finally get the opportunity to do that. A lot of my experience working in the golf shop and in accounting was a learn-as-I-go process. This pushed me to think on my feet, which relates to my initial goal of gaining confidence with flexible schedules. The level of activity heavily depended on time and weather. In the process of tracking how various factors affect revenue, I learned how to enter weather data, complete daily closings, perform customer service, and work with excel accounting spreadsheets. In conclusion, I would recommend this senior project to other students, especially if they have an interest in the sport and enjoy interacting with new people every day. After my senior project experience, I'm going to become an actual part time employee this summer in the golf shop and accounting. These past few weeks were the perfect way for me to become acquainted with the work and meet some staff members. Working at the Reserve this summer will also give me more time to procrastinate my golf practice.
